Sandpiper opens a new Food Hall in Kensington Place

19 July 2017

SandpiperCI opened its new Food Hall in Kensington Place Wednesday 19th July 2017. The new store is the first of many following Sandpiper’s recent acquisition of Costcutter’s retail estate.

Significantly, the acquisition will see up to 50 new full and part time job roles created and a major seven-figure sum conversion will see extensive changes, including an increase in the choice and range of products and decrease in many prices due to Sandpiper’s greater buying power.

The new store also incorporates a new-style Wine Warehouse, Sandpiper’s popular off-licence brand.

SandpiperCI CEO, Tony O’Neill said: “We’re very excited about the launch of 13 new stores in Jersey. We’ll be branching out into areas we don’t currently trade and we genuinely believe the new refurbished stores will benefit the communities they’ll serve. Customers will see better products at better prices and staff will benefit from improved rates of pay, employment terms and benefits.”

The Costcutter acquisition is another significant investment in Sandpiper’s retail estate and reflects the Channel Islands’ largest retailer’s confidence in the future prosperity of Jersey.
