SandpiperCI complete acquisition of Costcutter portfolio
Following approval by Jersey’s competition authority, SandpiperCI is pleased to announce they have now completed the acquisition of the Costcutter food retail shops in Jersey. Significantly, the deal will create 35 new roles and a major seven-figure sum conversion and refurbishment programme will shortly commence which is expected to be completed by the end of October.
SandpiperCI CEO, Tony O’Neill said: “The acquisition of Costcutter’s stores should be well received by islanders. We’re intending to increase the choice and range of products and our greater buying power means we can lower prices considerably.
“We’re also looking forward to trading in parishes and locations we currently don’t operate in. Starting at the end of July, the Costcutter stores will be converted at a rate of around one every fortnight to our popular Foodhall fascia providing a much wider range of fresh and chilled products locally.”

All Costcutter employees will transfer over to Sandpiper to enjoy improved employment terms, rates, staff discounts and employee benefits.
The Costcutter acquisition is another significant investment in Sandpiper’s retail estate and reflects the Channel Islands’ largest retailer’s confidence in the future prosperity of Jersey.
